Corrine McDermid shows us Denver’s revitalized Juneteenth festival. After plans for the celebration of African American freedom fell through last year, a coalition, including community activist Brother Jeff, and former Mayor Wellington Webb made sure that the same thing didn’t happen this year, creating a coalition to ensure the survival of this celebration commemorating Texas slaves learning of the Emancipation Proclamation about two years after the fact.
