Governor Pawlenty Takes “Absolutist” Positions In Budget Negotiations

Majority Leader Senator Larry Pogemiller and House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher report that budget negotiations with Governor Tim Pawlenty are not going well.  Anderson Kelliher says Pawlenty is taking “absolutist” positions and Pogemiller says Pawlenty has not delivered a balanced budget as required by law.

The Governor responds that all the DFL wants to do is raise taxes and he doesn’t.  However, the Governor’s budgets of the past several years have forced local governments to raise billions of dollars in property taxes.
