Sen. Dick Day’s $1-Billion Racino Proposal Shot Down

An amendment establishing slot machines at Canterbury Park failed to win Senate approval today, but generated passionated debate. The proposal”s sponsor, Sen. Dick Day, R-Owatonna, said a racino would raise about $1 billion dollars to help solve the budget deficit.  The proposed amendment was to a bill appropriating about $641 million dollars for the next two years for various state constitutional offices, the Legislature the Dept. of Administration.
