MN GOP Prefers Less Transparency In Government

Senate Minority Leader David Senjem talks about comments he made earlier in the day on Minnesota Public Radio. In an interview Senator Senjem said “Last year in the spirit, if you will, of openness, we acted in a different way. We tried to do this in a very public fashion. I knew from the start it wasn’t going to work, and it didn’t.

“I’ve seen it work the right way. And that is let’s bring the leadership and the chairs together and make this thing work. Because if we do that, it does work. If we take a different track, if you will, and try to do this, I hate to say it, in the open air, it just doesn’t work as well and we don’t get it done. So I’m hopeful we go back to the old way at the end of this session , what ever it might be, and hammer it out and get it done.”

Spokesman for Governor Pawlenty, Brian McClung indicated the Governor was again going to refuse to participate in open meetings to talk about the budget.
