Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, and key lawmakers announce a late Friday compromise on General Assistance Medical Care, or GAMC.
Much has happened in the last few weeks, before this compromise. GAMC, was “un-allotted” by Pawlenty, then reinforced by the legislature, then vetoed, then an override failed this last Monday. Also, 3 recipients had just filed suit, and the “un-enrollment” from GAMC would have begun this weekend.
So, compromise was reached, and at this press conference we will hear from : Governor Pawlenty; Senator Linda Berglin (DFL); Representative Erin Murphy (DFL); Representative Matt Dean ; House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher (DFL); Representative Thomas Huntley (DFL); Representative Kurt Zellers (R); Senator David Senjem (R); and Dept. of Humans Services Commissioner Cal Ludeman on some of the details of the compromise.
