MN GOP Fails To Water Down Campaign Finance Law

Representative Paul Kohls (R-Victoria, MN) attempts to change a reporting requirement in the campaign finance bill that would have allowed businesses to spend up to $1,000 without reporting it. The proposed limit in the bill is $100. Minnesota is revising its campaign finance laws because of the recent US Supreme Court decision that allows businesses to spend on campaign ads as long as they are not coordinating with a candidate or a party. Kohls’ amendment was defeated on a voice vote.
