Free Beverage From Schmidt Brewery, St. Paul

The last time a free beverage was served at the 1850s era Schmidt Brewery in St. Paul, MN, was beer dispensed in the Rathskeller right before the brewery closed in 2002. On June 19 pure water from the Simon Aquifer that underlies much of the Upper Midwest will be dispensed free on June 19, 2010 for as yet unspecified time. This water has been carbon dated to be over 36,000 years old.

The dispenser at the brewery has been a source of well water for locals for many years, The dispensing setup has been revised and water will be free for an introductory period.
