Today the Minnesota House and Senate Leaders asked the Governor to submit the request for the Federal Medicaid money which must be submitted no later than one month from now. In a letter to Governor Pawlenty, Speaker of the House Margaret Anderson Kelliher, House Majority Leader Tony Sertich and Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller write: “You cannot let political ambition get in the way of doing what is right for Minnesota. We strongly encourage you to seek these federal funds. Failure to do so would be an irresponsible act …hurting Minnesota taxpayers while doing nothing to help the tough economic situation faced by patients and our health care system.” Earlier this month it was revealed that Minnesota lost $1 Million in federal funding for insurance rate reviews when Pawlenty did not sign the paperwork.
