Today’s UpTake: Protesting Torture; Republicans Endorse Horner

Today The UpTake will cover the protests against law professors John Yoo and Robert Delahunty — advocates of torture as part of the Bush administration’s “war against terror” — who will appear today at a St. Thomas Law School symposium. And word on the street is that Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer will announce an important endorsement at 2 p.m. at the State Capitol.

His opponent Tom Horner (Independence Party candidate) pocketed his own key endorsement yesterday from 13 former Republican state legislators. Meanwhile, over at the State Office Building, State Rep. Tom Rukavina talked about job creation and challenged Emmer’s record. And we tried to get into the press conference during which Emmer appeared with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, but were denied entry.
