At a Friday morning State Capitol press conference, a host of Minnesota mayors and other community leaders endorsed Democratic-Farm-Labor candidate Mark Dayton for governor. The group included Minneapolis mayor R.T. Rybak, St. Paul mayor Chris Coleman, Fergus Falls mayor Hal Leland and former chair of the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners John Derus. The group highlighted Republican candidate Tom Emmer’s opposition to the state providing local government aid, and emphasized that they wanted a state government that worked with them, and not against them.
