Sen Murphy: Fed Ignores MN Flyover Flood Zone

Senator Steve Murphy during special session on flooding

Senator Steve Murphy (DFL) is critical of the Federal government for not providing assistance to small Minnesota communities hit by Fall flooding. He agrees with Senator Dave Senjem (R) that giving loans to people is like “throwing gas on a fire” since their businesses were wiped out and they are already mired in debt. Murphy points out that places such as southern Florida and New Orleans get Federal assistance when disasters strike, but that isn’t the case for small Minnesota towns. Murphy says that’s not a recent development with the Federal government, but it has always been that way.
