Stabbing

Saint Paul Police tonight arrested a 19-year-old man for aggravated assault after he stabbed two teenagers during a fight inside the Saint Paul RiverCentre at the Hmong New Year Celebration. The incident occurred at about 5:30 pm.

A 17-year-old male was taken to Regions Hospital where he’s in stable condition. A second victim, a 16-year-old male, suffered minor injuries.

Police believe the stabbing may be gang-related but the motive remains under investigation.

Officers also cited three adults and three juveniles for disorderly conduct in connection with the fight.

Saint Paul Police responded to multiple fights both inside the RiverCentre and in the hallways of the facility around 5:30 pm. Officers were forced to shut the gates to the event for approximately 30 minutes while they directed several hundred people out of the RiverCentre and broke up the fights.

Saint Paul Police cited two adults and two juveniles for disorderly conduct for a second fight that took place at the RiverCentre, also around 5:30 pm. Nobody was injured as a result of that fight.

The Hmong New Year events went on as planned following the 30 minute lockdown.
