Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Paul H. Anderson couldn’t have been more clear in his lecture to the team of lawyers for Republican Gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer.
“You’re on the line,” said Justice Anderson, indicating if the Emmer campaign sends any “frivolous” ballot challenges to the State Canvassing Board in the Governor’s race recount he would hold them accountable.
The Emmer campaign has challenged thousands of ballots in the recount. Most of those challenges have been deemed “frivolous” by election officials.
Justice Anderson aimed most of his ire at former Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Eric Magnuson who is one of Emmer’s lawyers. Justice Anderson brought out Magnuson’s famous chart from the 2008 recount and put it on a large screen for all to see. That chart was used by the State Canvassing Board to be consistent in its rulings on challenged ballots in the Al Franken/ Norm Coleman US Senate recount.
