More than 500 local officials from around the state will reportedly: hear from state leaders about proposals to address the massive state budget shortfall and the implications for local government; learn more about the three legislative commissions on government redesign and their efforts to improve service delivery, enhance collaboration, and help all levels of government save money; take messages to the Capitol and visit with legislators. House Majority Leader Matt Dean, House Minority Leader Paul Thissen, and Senate Minority Leader Tom Bakk will speak between 8:45 and 9:45, followed by State Auditor Rebecca Otto at 9:45.
