Governor Mark Dayton and other political luminaries will speak this morning at the Joint Legislative Conference for Minnesota Cities, Counties, School Boards, and Townships at the Crowne Plaza Riverfront Hotel in downtown St. Paul. More than 500 local officials from around the state will reportedly: hear from state leaders about proposals to address the massive state budget shortfall and the implications for local government; learn more about the three legislative commissions on government redesign and their efforts to improve service delivery, enhance collaboration, and help all levels of government save money; take messages to the Capitol and visit with legislators.
House Majority Leader Matt Dean, House Minority Leader Paul Thissen, and Senate Minority Leader Tom Bakk will speak between 8:45 and 9:45, followed by State Auditor Rebecca Otto at 9:45. Dayton will deliver the keynote address between 11:45 and 12:45.
