Minnesota 9/11 Truth Shares Capitol With Remembrance Celebration

Minnesota 9/11 Truth rallied in the rotunda of the Minnesota State Capitol as the larger remembrance celebration proceeded on the main steps. The 9/11 Truth Movement is a growing collection of architects, engineers, pilots, other technical people and some conspiracy theorists who question many of the conclusions reached by the government’s 9/11 investigation committee. Critics, including the mainstream media, dismiss their claims as unsubstantiated conspiracy theories. But a number of groups, with varying degrees of veracity, continue to call for the reopening of the 9/11 Commission investigation.

Some recent developments support their claims of serious oversight in government planning before and after the terrorist attacks 10 years ago. One former FBI interrogator argues that the event could have been prevented. One of the most credible groups agitating for further inspection is the Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. Another credible voice in the fray is Pilots For 9/11 Truth.

Jim Fetzer, an American philosopher and professor emeritus at the University of Minnesota Duluth is the founder of Scholars For 9/11 Truth and the author of a number of books on Intelligence and Science. The details he questions are numerous and confusing. One of the simplest issues is the fate of Building 7 which collapsed at almost free-fall speed even though it was not targeted by one of the hijacked airplanes. There are reports of audible countdowns and a statement by the building’s owner that, “They pulled it.” The owner of the World Trade Center buildings had doubled the insurance on the Twin Towers six weeks before the collapse and successfully argued that the two planes constituted two separate events and thus was awarded $5 billion cash on a total initial investment of about $115 million.

All told, the 9/11 Truth groups, though substantial in number, are a minority surrounded by a large field of political discussion and major media coverage. Any form of discussion tends to be heated and emotional. There are many parallels to their plight to be heard, they say: The Kennedy assassination story was alleged to be a conspiracy, the battleship Maine episode in 1898 has been rewritten many times, and the Gulf of Tonkin incident has been proven to be a fabricated event. Whatever the truth of 9/11, and it may never be completely understood, the discussion will continue.
