9/11 Remembrance Brings Hundreds to State Capitol

Hundreds sat in the sun stood on the lawn and cooled under the trees on the south side of the Capitol building to participate in Minnesotan’s Standing together.

They were treated to a 2 1/2 hour program of political dignitaries, community leaders, community services, faith leaders and lots of music.

It was a solemn presentation marked with quiet patriotism. Huge puppets carried by dancers from the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater added an expansive feeling culminating with the flight of a large dove puppet flying over the speaker’s rostrum.

The day ended to the mournful sound of the Macalester College Pipe Band. The Capitol flag flew at half mast and a very large American flag flew from an extended ladder of a St. Paul Fire Department vehicle.

After a tour as a sailing fleet manager in the Virgin Islands he turned to database programming as an independent consultant.
