Senator John Marty (DFL-Roseville) asks why the legislature is arguing about which teachers to lay off instead of questioning why they are being laid off. The discussion comes as the Senate passed a bill 36-26 making it easier to layoff teachers with seniority. The bill now heads to conference committee

Senator Gen Olson (R-Minnestrista) argued that you can’t keep “throwing more money” at education or it will “sink the ship”. Bill author Pam Wolf (R-Spring Lake Park) reminds the Senate that this bill is not about funding schools, but about laying off teachers.
