“I’m not here to defend the economics of professional sports in America. To me they’re probably indefensible by my value system, but they are what they are and they’re not going to change because I think otherwise.
“So the people of Minnesota through their representatives have to decide do we want to be part of that enterprise of professional football or not.”
Governor Dayton made the remark in an answer to a question of how the negotiating a stadium deal behind closed doors squared with his values of openness, transparency and public participation.
