The Burnsville School District recently paid out a $255,000 settlement to a former employee and could tell the public very little about the reason.

The St. Paul Conservatory for the Performing Arts, which is a charter school, also recently paid a large settlement to an employee it had suspended, but released very few details to the public.

A bill that would provide more transparency in these situations got its first hearing in the House. The bill from Representative Pam Myhra (R- Burnsville) would apply to employees at schools, charter schools and all other public employees.
