Conflict-Sensitive Journalism With Ross Howard – Video Replay

Conflict-Sensitive Journalism expert Ross Howard leads a discussion and examination of this exciting approach to journalism.

Conflict-Sensitive Journalism empowers journalists to report on events and issues professionally without feeding the flames of harmful conflict. As conflict is a central feature of most issues on which we report, The UpTake believes it is critical to understand what causes conflict, how it develops and ends. Reporters must also understand their role in the unfolding of conflict: how they exacerbate conflict, how parties in conflict might be using them in conflict, and how to minimize the harm they may impose when turning their cameras and microphones on parties in conflict.

This symposium was done in partnership with The Minnesota Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, The Minnesota Journalism Center and The Conflict Resolution Center of Minnesota.
