Khadija Charif performs “She woke up.”

Somali American Minneapolis college student Khadija Charif performs her poem “She woke up” She was inspired by the image of a mother from Syria looking for her lost son, and imagined that could have been her mother. Charif was one of several performers and speakers at the free public event “Refugee Crisis: What can we do?” on Oct. 29 at Macalester college in St. Paul, Minn.
