Minnesota’s DFL party avoided taking on the issue that has been very divisive — “responsible” mining in the state’s Iron Range region. A proposed change to the party’s platform had many delegates concerned. However, the change was postponed indefinitely in the name of party unity.
Saturday, the party endorsed Steve Simon over Debra Hilstrom for Secretary of State. It was the only contended race in a slate otherwise made up of incumbents — including Governor Mark Dayton, U.S. Senator Al Franken, State Auditor Rebecca Otto and Attorney General Lori Swanson.
Saturday in Rochester, Minnesota Republicans endorsed Jeff Johnson for Governor and Mike McFadden for U.S. Senate.
