Video Replay: DFL Fails To Endorse CD8 Candidate

10 ballots yields no DFL endorsement in Minnesota’s 8th congressional district. The DFL will not endorse anyone in the race until after the August primary. Pete Stauber is the likely GOP candidate for a rare open congressional seat with Rep. Rick Nolan (DFL) retiring.

Candidates Kirsten Hagen Kennedy and Michelle Lee were eliminated on the first ballot. Jason Metsa was dropped a few ballots later when he failed to get more than 25% of the vote. The vote totals for the two remaining candidates Leah Phifer and Joe Radinovich never climbed above 50% with 60% needed for endorsement.

At the end Phifer held about a 4.16 percentage point margin over Radinovich despite Nolan endorsing Radinovich.

Elsewhere DFLers endorsed:
Angie Craig over Jeff Erdmann to run against Rep. Jason Lewis in CD2.
Dean Phillips over Adam Jennings to runs agains Rep. Erik Paulson in CD3.
