The stroke of midnight on July 31/August 1 was a historic moment. Minnesota’s marriage equality law took effect and Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak did the honors, marrying 63 couples at City Hall, beginning with Cathy ten Broeke and Margaret Miles, married in their hearts and minds for 12 years, but without the legal approval of a state that until last night, did not recognize same-sex marriage.
Watch the ceremony here, and return to The UpTake later this morning to see our story about the historic advent of same-sex marriage.
