This morning at the State Capitol, the Minnesota Safety Council, AAA Minnesota/Iowa and transportation safety advocates held press conference to roll out PayAttentionandDrive.org, a website dedicated to providing information and collecting public input and firsthand accounts of the dangers of distracted driving. The press conference coincides with the United States Department of Transportation’s 2nd National Distracted Driving Summit.
Participants in the press conference included Dan Phillips, a father who lost his 17-year-old daughter in 2007 due to a distracted driving accident. State Representative Frank Hornstein (DFL – Minneapolis) and State Senator Steve Murphy (DFL – Red Wing) answered questions about potential legislative initiatives to reduce distracted driving.
