Lucila Dominguez honored at 9th annual Facing Race Ambassador Awards

Lucila Dominguez knows that change doesn’t come easily. Sometimes it requires personal sacrifice, as demonstrated by her work with CTUL, the Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en la Lucha (Center for Workers United in the Struggle). In fact, Lucila’s first volunteer act with CTUL was a 12-day hunger strike outside a major food retailer to protest unfair wages and working conditions. She continued to volunteer with CTUL until 2014, when she joined staff as a lead organizer, fighting for the rights of low-wage immigrant Latino workers.

Minnesota Workers Celebrate As Gov. Dayton Signs $9.50 Wage Law

Governor Mark Dayton signed the new minimum wage bill into law Monday in a jubilant celebration at the State Capitol that brought waves of emotion to the many groups that worked to see the law passed. The bill affects 375,000 minimum-wage workers in Minnesota, who will see their wages raised to $8 an hour starting in August and to $9.50 in 2016. (More…)

Dayton, Klobuchar Address AFL-CIO

Yesterday, Minnesota Democratic-Farm-Labor gubernatorial candidate Mark Dayton fired up the AFL-CIO convention during his rousing speech to the labor base at the Sheraton hotel in Bloomington, Minn. Earlier in the day, Senator Amy Klobuchar implored the union workers to elect Dayton this November.
