Today’s UpTake: All Recount Eyes on Hennepin

Tom Emmer’s team increased their challenging of ballots in Hennepin County yesterday, so much that Plymouth, Minn. clerk Sandy Engdahl got into a heated argument with Emmer attorney Tony Trimble over whether the trailing team had a quota of challenges to file per precinct. And now GOP chair Tony Sutton has fueled rumors that the Republicans will file a post-recount lawsuit.

Today’s UpTake: Recount Training Presentation, FBI Raids and Judicial Elections

The Office of the Secretary of State has invited media today to view a live Recount Training Presentation for election officials at 1:30 p.m. at the State Office Building. Then at 4 p.m. at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, we’ll broadcast a panel discussion led by moderator Larry Jacobs about the state of judicial elections in Minnesota.

Pawlenty’s People Leaving Capitol in Droves

It’s not abnormal for Pawlenty’s brain trust to leave him with only a month and a half remaining before he is scheduled to vacate the governor’s mansion. But this all begs the question, what happens if the gubernatorial recount between Mark Dayton and Tom Emmer drags into 2011, and Pawlenty is forced to remain in St. Paul beyond Jan. 3?
