The situation in Libya has escalated rapidly over the past week, with each day bringing increased numbers of death, violations of human rights and atrocities brought upon the local population. Members of the world community, and more specifically the European Union and the United States, have responded with condemnations and by issuing non-actionable statements from the UN Security Council. The dictatorship of Muammar Qaddafi has terrorized his people for 42 years and is determined not to leave his rule without leaving it a ‘scorched earth’.
