They were treated to a 2 1/2 hour program of political dignitaries, community leaders, community services, faith leaders and lots of music. It was a solemn presentation marked with quiet patriotism. Huge puppets carried by dancers from the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater added an expansive feeling culminating with the flight of a large dove puppet flying over the speaker’s rostrum. The day ended to the mournful sound of the Macalester College Pipe Band.
