This was the only debate that Senator Franken (DFL) will be doing before Labor Day. And since it’s before Minnesota’s August 12 primary, there are quite a few contenders appeared with him. On the Farmfest panel were three Republican Party candidates — Mike McFadden, Jim Abeler and David Carlson as well as Independence Party candidate Kevin Terrell. The focus was on issues facing farmers and rural families, but many of those issues such as the economy reach beyond the corn and soybean fields. MN Farm Network’s Emery Klevin will was the moderator. Following the U.S. Senate debate, Minnesota Congressional candidates debated the rural issues.
