By admin | August 20, 2013 LikeTweet EmailPrint More More on Arts Subscribe to Arts The Minnesota Orchestra has been mostly silent for the last ten-and-a-half months. Last October, management locked out the musicians because of a contract disagreement. Concerts have been cancelled and so have recording sessions. So, what is the Minnesota Orchestra’s future? A group called “Orchestrate Excellence” attempted to answer that question Tuesday night in a community forum that was streamed live on The UpTake and can be seen here in this replay. “We are excited to offer this option as a way to further broaden the community’s participation in this important dialogue,” said Laurie Greeno, co-chair of Orchestrate Excellence. “We encourage all who are interested in the future vitality of our Minnesota Orchestra to join us at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis. “Through services of The UpTake, anyone can listen to this important discussion live, whether here in the Twin Cities, across Minnesota, or the country.” More than 400 people attended the event. The keynote speaker was Alan Fletcher, of the Aspen Music Festival and School. Richard Carlbom facilitated the discussion.
