Absentee Balloting the Highest in Two Decades of MN Primaries

“Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie said absentee balloting in the 2010 primary is the highest in two decades. His office reported that election officials have accepted 26,211 absentee ballots as of 9:45 a.m. this morning. In-person absentee balloting continues today until 5 p.m. with the primary tomorrow, Aug. 10. ‘Clearly the message is out there about the approaching early primary,’ Ritchie said.

ST. PAUL, Minn.-Aug. 6, 2010-Secretary of State Mark Ritchie said today that the number of absentee ballots successfully cast statewide for the upcoming Aug. 10 primary has eclipsed 2002 and 2006 state primary totals. He indicated that as of Friday morning, election officials were reporting 21,703 absentee ballots accepted statewide.
