Seven of the candidates running for Minneapolis mayor appeared Thursday night to answer questions at a forum sponsored by the DFL Somali Caucus. Participating were former Minneapolis NAACP President Nekima Levy-Pounds, State Representative Raymond Dehn, Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges, filmmaker Aswar Rahman, City Council Member Jacob Frey, community activist Al Flowers and former Hennepin Theater Trust President Tom Hoch.
They answered several rounds of questions before a crowd of about 200 people at the Jigjiga Business Center.
Additional candidates
Two additional candidates for mayor—Captain Jack Sparrow and Bob “Again” Carney Jr.—were given a few minutes to address the crowd at the end of the debate.
Minneapolis uses ranked choice voting to pick its mayor. So there is no primary. The election is November 7.
