GOP Endorsed Candidate Files Complaint Against Her Own Party

A Republican intraparty squabble is getting more heated, and more public, as a GOP endorsed candidate for Minnesota’s Supreme Court filed a complaint against the party’s executive committee in a dispute stemming from a drunk driving charge she is facing.

The Minnesota Supreme Court yesterday afternoon denied Tom Emmer and the Republican Party’s petition to delay the start of the gubernatorial recount, following legal hearings during which Emmer’s and Democrat Mark Dayton’s attorneys sparred over the question of whether vote totals must be reconciled with the number of signatures on voter logs.

Some time this morning we’ll learn whether the Minnesota Supreme Court will acquiesce to the petition the Republican Party filed last week and hold hearings today at 2:30 p.m. The Democrats allege that the petition could delay the state-mandated gubernatorial recount, which is scheduled to begin next Monday, Nov. 29.
